All Rado watches are a fusion of technology, practicality, and design. The first impressive results of this successful combination were presented in 1962 with the Rado DiaStar, the world’s first scratch-resistant watch. In the 1980s, the Rado pioneering spirit led to the use of high-tech ceramic in watchmaking. Previously used in space craft heat shields and racing cars, it was a significant milestone. Rado also developed the ability to color this resilient material and to mold it by injection, paving the way for even more innovative designs. And in 2002 the world’s hardest watch was unveiled. The Rado V10K, made using high-tech diamond has a hardness of 10,000 on the Vickers Scale.

Ceramos™ is an evolution of platinum-coloured high-tech ceramic introduced by Rado in 1993. This material made of high-tech ceramic and a metal composite was designed to have the optimal properties of both components. Today Ceramos™ has a unique platinum steel look  and is ideal for sharp and edgy designs. It is a lightweight material which adjusts quickly to skin temperature, offering unrivalled comfort levels when used in watch bracelets and cases.

PLASMA HIGH-TECH CERAMIC

Plasma high-tech ceramic gives a striking and mysterious metallic brilliance, in a platinum colour, without the use of any metal.  The plasma carburising process is patented and exclusive to Rado and is a form of modern alchemy.  Gases activated at 20,000˚C alter the composition of high-tech ceramic without affecting its essential properties.  Although only the surface colour of the ceramic is changed as the platinum colour emerges from each piece, it will not fade over time, instead retaining its naturally scratch-resistant shine for years to come.
